If I were President 2 Pages 516 Words
If I were president I would strive to accomplish these three major things. First, I would strengthen our educational system, second, I would make certain that everyone has equal and fair treatment in our society, and lastly, I would secure our borders. Our education system in America is not one in which we should be very proud of. Yes, America does have excellent schools, colleges, and learning institutions, but our standards are not set as high as other countries. For example, our country does not fund our schools adequately. Teachers teach with not enough books, no supplies, or books that are often over 20 years old. How can we expect our children to be up to date with the worlds information if our teaching materials are not new? Often teachers in our public schools are forced to buy text books and supplies for our children with their own personal money. Why do they do this? Because they believe in a good education for all learners. Our country "prides" itself on the quality of education a person can receive here, yet teachers are one of the countries lowest paid professionals. If I were president, I would also make sure that everyone in this country was treated equal and fair. The 13th Amendment to the constitution did abolish slavery, and the 14th Amendment was passed to counter the black codes, but in reality, discrimination still occurs in every aspect today in America. Discrimination is not just a black and white issue, it also has to do with age, gender, equal housing, religion, national origin, and credit, to name a few. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 helped to reinstate what the amendments tried to do early in history, but there is still much to be done. Companies need to be regulated better, and stricter rules need to be enforced and fined if necessary. Every American deserves the right to be treated with equality and fairness whether they are male or female, old or young, or non white. ...

If I were president I would aim to achieve three major things in our society. First, I would change our educational system, the second I would make drastic changes so that everyone has fair and equal treatment in the U.S., third would give ex-cons a fresh start after they served their time, and lastly I want to help clean our oceans and rivers of pollution
The educational system in America is a mess honestly it really is. America does have great schools, colleges, and learning institutions, but the standards they set aren’t good enough as other countries. For example, the U.S. does not fund our schools sufficiently. There are teachers in the U.S. that teach with no books, and no supplies, and the books that they do have are very outdated, most teachers are just teaching our kids their beliefs and opinions. How do we expect our children to be up to date with what’s going on in the world if the teaching materials are not up to date? Sometimes teachers in our public schools are told to use their hard-earned money to buy new textbooks and supplies that cost hundreds of dollars. Why do they do this? I’ll tell you why because some of them believe in having a good education for everyone no matter what.

If I were president, I would make sure that everyone in this country is treated with fairness and equality. The 13th Amendment did abolish slavery, and also the 14th Amendment granted citizenship to everyone born in the United States., but in reality, racism and discrimination are still a huge problem in the U.S. today. It’s not just with black people, it’s with Mexicans, Palestinians, and other races. Discrimination isn’t just a black-and-white problem, it also has to do with gender, credit, age, and origin. Every American deserves the same equal opportunity and is treated with fairness no matter if they are male or female, gay or straight, fat or skinny, and better than black or white. On the piano, you need both black and white keys to play the star-spangled banner.
Lastly, one of the most forgotten problems in the U.S., giving ex-cons a fresh start. One-third of American adults have a criminal record. I was reading an article online from WLBT by Nick Ducote. He stated, “The Mississippi Center for Public Policy reports that Mississippi has the third highest incarceration rate in the United States”.Oklahoma has the second highest incarceration rate with 673 per 100,000 people, and Louisiana has the number one highest incarceration rate with 760 per 100,000 people. In the state of Mississippi State Representative Mark Baker of Brandon is trying to get an act passed called the “Fresh Start Act”. The “Fresh Start Act” shots for helping ex-felons from returning to a life of crime, and trying to help them find jobs to better themselves. Bill. J. Robertson says, “the unemployment rates for the state are on the decline, but people who come out of prison aren’t counted in that number” . Robertson also stated, “The numbers show that in states where occupational licensing barriers are high, people are more likely to return to crime and go back to prison. So the goal of this bill is to decrease recidivism, to decrease the chances that people will return to a life of crime, to help them find a job, so they don’t go back to prison,’ said Robertson.
If I were president I would invest my time into getting the “Fresh Start Act”, it’s a good opportunity for those who are ex-felons looking to turn their life around after serving their time. My other idea was if this were to fail, the U.S. could provide jobs across the U.S. by having ex-cons help clean our oceans. Almost 40% of the lakes in the U.S. are polluted for fishing, aquatic life, or swimming. This is a problem that people just not caring about in today’s society, global warming is getting worse, and natural disasters are getting more and more fatal each year. We should start trying to better our planet rather than make it worse. So by doing this, I think this would also be a good start for ex-cons getting a fresh start, we would pay at least $7.50 – $9.00 an hour and also provide homes for those who don’t have a home to go to. This would probably be one of the hardest things to get passed but I would do everything in my power to get this act passed because everyone deserves a second chance in life.

Narrative Essay: If I Were President
Have you ever thought about what you’d do if you were ever elected president of the United States of America? The 2016 elections were the subject of much debate over who would make the best president. There are many people who don’t feel like the right person was elected and have speculated extensively on whether he’s up for the job. Of course, there are plenty of people who are glad he was given the job over the other candidate. Do you think you could do a better job?
If I were president, I would take the emphasis off of racial ethnicity and class and place it back where the Constitution began, which is that everyone was created equal. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what you look like, we are all people and all deserve the same rights. At the same time, America is a welcoming country and people should be taking the proper steps to become a legal resident of the country. If this were the case, there would be fewer people who have trouble with minorities because they wouldn’t be using resources that belong to American citizens when they were not legally entitled to them.
If I were president, children wouldn’t go hungry. Those with enough would be compelled to share and those who were lacking would get the help they need. The amount of food that is thrown away in America is appalling when so many people are going without a meal. Grocery stores could give their surplus or less than perfect looking produce to food banks. Restaurants could donate end of the day leftovers to food kitchens or homeless shelters. Never again would a child have to feel the pains of being hungry.
If I were president, education wouldn’t be so controversial. Parents would support teachers and teachers would support parents. Neither would be against the other and each would be focused solely on the education of the child and ensuring that he or she has a bright future. Funding would be pulled from politicians paychecks to help pay for the needs of every school. Teachers would be properly trained to work with students of all kinds and would be paid accordingly. After all, the future of the world depends on today’s children so shouldn’t our money be going to that over anything else?
If I were president, the environment would become a top concern. People would be motivated to recycle and reuse things so that landfills could be kept from taking over their communities. Research dollars would be allocated toward developing environmentally friendly fuel sources and people and companies would be compensated for choosing solar panels and other things that are better for the environment. Protecting our world is important for future generations and educating the public about what they can do to help would be a top priority.
If I were president, kindness would prevail and people would treat those around them with love, respect and basic courtesy. There wouldn’t be any resources wasted on petty arguments and fights between neighbors or family members. I know I might be wearing rose colored glasses, but if people truly treated others as they want to be treated, the world would be a better place for everyone.
Not everyone can become the president, but if those that do were better at doing what the people need and trying not to be ruled by money, every citizen of the country would benefit in a big way. If we all come together and do what’s best for the nation instead of one population or individual, the United States would be an even better place to live.

America If I Were President
Police brutality statistics.
32 percent of black people killed by police this year were unarmed, compared to 15 percent of white people and 25 percent of Hispanic and Latino people. Police brutality has a been a topic that you have seen through the news lately. This has been a constant problem, especially with minorities. A bunch of innocent minorities has died because of police brutality, People such as Eric Garner, Michael Brown, and etc. These people have accused of doing something that they were really not doing. Police brutality is a growing problem in America and it is has taken a bunch of innocent lives.
Inequality In The Criminal Justice System
Last year, blacks were killed very often and in bad demeanors by cops. Alton Sterling was pinned to the ground, hands up unarmed, was shot twice in the chest and died. Nothing happened to those cops because they say it was self-defense. Another incident where a black male was pulled over his hands clearly shown on his steering wheel, was shot dead with his wife and son in the car. Trayvon Martin was shot and killed in his own neighborhood just because of his appearance, the man was set
Killing Of Black People Essay
This year, the American police have already killed more than 500 people. Of those, 25% have been Black, even though Black people make up only 13% of the population. Last week in Louisiana, two White police officers killed a Black man named Alton Sterling while he sold CDs on the street. The very next day in Minnesota, a police officer shot and killed a Black man named Philando Castile in his car during a traffic stop while his girlfriend and her four-year-old daughter watched. Overwhelmingly, the police do not face any consequences for ending these lives. Our community knows these tragedies, too. Anthony Nunez, Melissa Ventura, Pedro Villanueva and Alex Nieto were all killed by police officers, though none of it was caught on film.
African American Police Brutality Essay
In the year 2014, 1108 people were killed in cases of police brutality. Of those 1108, 23.5% (265) of the victims were African Americans. In a poll conducted in 2009, 54.4% of African Americans said that they or people they knew experienced violence at the hands of police. Only 44.2% of the African Americans taking the poll
The Black Of Black And Black Crime Essay
Over the last two years in the United States the African-American people have been fighting a war within our own backyards. The Washington Post reports that since January 2015, the police have shot and killed over 175 young black men ranging from ages 18-29; 24 of them were unarmed. On the flip side 172 young white men were killed, only 18 being unarmed. With these statistics there are similarities in the numbers but, blacks were killed at rates disproportional to their percentage of U.S population (1.Washington Post). Of all unarmed people shot and killed by police in 2015. With 40% being black men make up just 6% of the nation’s populations. In the wake of the killings of Mike Brown, Sandra Bland, Alton Sterling, and many more the world has been made more publicly aware of injustices black people have to handle when dealing with law enforcement. Crime in the black community is nothing new in the black community or should I say black on black crime. There is a bad stereotype that has been put on black people since slavery times that I believe has help fueled the violence between the police and my people.
The Causes Of Police Brutality
Over the past five centuries, black people have endured violence in many different ways. Today, police officers use deadly, excessive force that leads to inexcusable assaults, beatings and shootings.
Symbolic Interactionism In Sociology
Racial Injustice and police brutality is a huge subject that has been for decades. According to data released by the Bureau of Justice Statistics (2011), between 2003 and 2009 at least 4,813 people died in the process of being arrested by local police. Of the deaths classified as law enforcement homicides, 2,876 deaths occurred of
Police Brutality In African America Essay
African Americans are the number one group to be gunshot by law enforcement officers. Police brutality has been an issue for many years, and it is still a major concern for the minority community. Police officers use deadly, excessive force that leads to inexcusable assaults, beating, shootings and overall many deaths. Although, police brutality comes any many forms but some of the common ones are racial profiling, and use of deadly force. In order to see why so many people are outraged by the recent police brutality events we should change how police are trained, how they communicate with the community members, and overall how we can change the outcomes of police brutality.
Summary: It's Time To End Racial Profiling
On July 6th, a Minnesota police officer pulled Philando Castile, a 32 year old black male, for a broken tail light. The officer asked the man to get out his license and as he reached for them, the officer then pulled a gun and shot Castile. As Castile lay with his head back bleeding out, his fiance, Diamond Reynolds filmed a video explaining he had shot Castile four times. Reynolds’s four year old daughter had been sitting in the back seat to witness the entire thing. Of the 708 police shootings to occur before September this year, ¼ of those deaths, 173 black individuals have been shot dead. Between 2008 and 2012, 12,765 people had been victims of police shootings and 51.1% were African American. Just to put things in perspective for you.
Police Brutality Effects On American Police Shootings
A report made on May 31st shows that at least 385 people have been killed by American police since 2015 has started. FBI reports show that over the past decade, the annual average for fatal shootings by police is about 400, and this year they are close to surpassing that only half-way through the year. Two thirds of these people have been either African American or Hispanic with one in six of them being unarmed at the time of the shooting. More than 80 percent of the shootings were because of what had started as minor things that escalated into assaults. This is important because police brutality has become a bigger issue with police being more likely to shoot with race in mind.
Richard Wright: After The Civil Rights Movement
Police brutality has been the most prominent form of racism captured by the media and since the 1992 Los Angeles Riots protesting the death of Rodney King, it still dominates headlines. After more than two decades later, the number of innocent, and unarmed black American deaths have only increased along with the acquisition of the police accountable. According to “More Than 250 Black People Were Killed By Police In 2016,” Julia Craven states that “34 percent of the unarmed people killed in 2016 were black males.” This is unreasonable because according to the same article, “black men make up only 6 percent of the U.S. population.” The numbers are disproportionate enough to show that there is a clear target against blacks. This statistic of black males compared to their white counterparts also show a significant disparity as statistics John Wihbey and Leighton Walter Kille provide in “Excessive or reasonable force by police? Research on law enforcement and racial conflict,” clearly state that unarmed blacks were killed at twice the rate of whites with “31.17 per million, while just 1.47 per million white males.” There is clear cut evidence of racial profiling in policing as blacks who make up a only a small amount of the U.S. population are killed at a much higher rate than whites who make up a majority of the population. This is obvious discriminatory intent by the hands of the police,
Black Oppression Vs. White Privilege
According to a Washington Post database of lethal police shootings 24 unarmed black men have been shot and killed by police so far this year. This means one a black man dies every nine days. Three unarmed black men were shot and killed in the month of April alone. All three shootings were either caught on tape or reported on local TV. The 24 unarmed black men that were killed compose a startling small amount of the 585 people shot and killed by police. According to The Post database. Most of those killed were white or Hispanic, and a good number of all races were armed. However, according to Wesley, black men accounted for 40 percent of the 60 unarmed deaths, even though they make up just 6 percent of the U.S. population.
What Is The Problem Of Police Brutality
Police brutality is a factual thing and people have been observing ever since, to see if it’s a real problem for society, which it is. There have been lots of shooting happening lately, where the police shoot an unarmed person, for no reason. What if that happened to your loved ones? We haven’t heard the real background as to, why it happens? But as we can see from the research that people have done over the year, that the police targets most of the minority people. For example, when a police over at Florida, decided to shoot an unarmed black teenage man because he was walking at the night with his hoody on. Another similar case, where another black teenage man at Ferguson was shot by the police because he was a black person, walking down the
Outline Of A Speech On Civil Rights
In 2016, there were almost 1,400 recorded arrest related deaths, and in arrest African American people are three times more likely to be killed than white people (Banks, 2016).

If I Were the President Presidents perform various tasks for their citizens and this requires a dedicated, and an active support team. Currently, terrorism is threatening international peace and each president needs to protect the locals. If I were to become the president, I would ensure that citizens have adequate access to medical, recreational and development facilities to enable them contribute to the social and economic affairs of the country. If I were the president, I would ensure that citizens get access to all the necessary amenities, including medical care and learning facilities.
For instance, providing affordable insurance covers is a way of enabling accessibility to medical care. This is because all citizens are free to seek medical attention whenever the need arises. I would also strengthen security operations within the country to attract foreign investors and boost the confidence of the citizens in undertaking their endeavors without fear.As a president, I would improve development and recreational facilities in order to develop productive workers. Training helps in the preparation of workers who contribute to the economic growth of a country.
Similarly, recreational activities make people healthy and active in building the nation. Sports activities are also foreign relations tools since they bring together players and supporters from other countries. Fostering international association facilitates trading activities that develop economies and improving citizens’ living standards. Presidents who engage the citizens in decision-making get the chance to understand the people’s requirements and development strategies. Considering the above, if I were the president, I would concentrate on aspects that enable the citizens to participate in nation building.
I would give more youths the chance to explore their skills by enacting policies that relate to their affairs and job creation. This minimizes the dependence on social welfare benefits, which breeds laziness and criminal offenses.

Essay on “If I were the President” (540 Words)
Many of us have some aspirations and wishes for our country that we desire to fulfill and some changes to bring about, but we feel that we have little say in getting those things done. This is because of our limited power as citizens of the country.
Each of us has our rights and responsibilities as citizens of the country which we ought to remember and abide by. But privileges and power to bring amendments to the policies and laws in the country are held with the higher authorities like the President .
There are many problems that afflict the society today. Most of these require strict laws by the governance to bring about a considerable change. If I were the President of the country, I would have taken up the issues that adversely affect the society and our country.

Increasing pollution levels, growing economic disparity, descending environment consciousness amongst the citizens are some of the major problems that trouble me a lot among all the severe problems that our country faces.
We may have seen progress and development in many areas and the socio-economic standards may have risen. However the unscrupulous acts like increased use of cars, deforestation to start industrial set ups and increasing wastage of natural resources and less greener surroundings are some of the problems that may look trivial to handle, but need stringent laws and firm steps to replenish the damage done so far.
Being a president, I would like to implement policies that would enforce laws on deforestation and discourage large scale set ups from destroying green pastures beyond a limit by imposing heavy fines.
I would encourage setting up of recycling industries and fund state governments for the same. There would be strict laws to punish people doing any harm to environment by polluting it, throwing waste and litter in open spaces and discourage use of non-renewable resources like petrol and crude oil by factories. Instead, more and more funds shall be directed towards developing electric cars or cars driven by water that will reduce the dependency on petrol and also prevent pollution of the environment.
Also I shall increase the prices of cigarettes in order to give yet another reason for people to quit smoking. It would be a great measure as it will help control the pollution levels to some extent and also promise better health and reduce the population of people suffering from chronic diseases.
Another attempt will be towards establishing friendly relations with neighboring countries and also enhance better trade without many constraints between the two countries. This will ensure a better and cheaper supply of goods and scarcity of resources which are abundant in other countries can be made available to people of my country and vice versa.
Policies to provide better machines and sufficient financial assistance to the poor farmers will be implemented. This will help reduce the burden on farmers who are under the pressure of providing subsidized farm products to the nation even at the cost of their own loss. They shall be able to provide cheaply produced goods and inflation rate could also be controlled.
All my efforts would be initiated, keeping in mind the interest and the wellbeing of the people of my nation.

School Essay: If I Were President
If I were president, two of my main focuses would be reducing job cuts and going make more jobs. My first plan of action would be to reduce gas prices by not importing oil; I would drill it here in the U. S. That would slowly build us more money, meaning less job cuts. Also, we could reduce the mass production of sweets and would save money by not using factories as much, also reducing pollution in the air, which is one way to go green. Recently the company of IBM in San Francisco cut 1,500 employees.
Getting fired for no reason is hard, harder than being fired for a reason. What Peter Arnett once said, “I am still in shock and awe at being fired. ” This is what every one of those 1,500 employees were thinking. So, once we slowly earned enough money by keeping the candy production reduced and oil drilled in our country, we might be able to stop job cuts for good. Another act would be to raise cigarette prices. My reason for this action is that if I did raise the price, it would give smokers yet another reason to quit smoking, lowering the death rate a little bit too.
After that, I then would make marijuana legal for medical purposes, because marijuana can be healthy in certain cases, for example, if you have arthritis, it can help a bit, but it will only be legal if prescribed by your doctor, or citizens could easily use it for the wrong purposes. Also I would keep the tax level in the United States the same, because the government would need the money for the plans I would have just executed, and to keep your money balanced, similar to how wolves keep the deer population balanced.

My last and final act would be trying to make peace with as many countries as I could, but at the same time still having war with the countries I haven’t made peace with. Then, with the countries I made peace with, I would trade with them goods with goods so both of us could easily get what we can’t reach. Plus, if I don’t make peace with other countries, I would make or try to grow goods here in the US so we don’t have to import and waste time, gas, and money.
While we are superpowers in the eyes of the world, I believe there are things that must be changed to reflect the fame and superiority associated with America in the international arena. If I were a president, I would strive to accomplish three major issues. To begin with, to ensure food security and better health care, second, would improve the education system of our country, third, I would ensure that our every American is secure. I have to admit that a government which is not able to feed its citizens has no reason of being in power.
A healthy nation is very vital in sustainable development since a nation cannot develop when the citizen continuously suffer from different diseases. As stated above, my first task is to strive to enhance food security in my country. According to Mwaniki (‘n. d’), food security is a situation in which all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to adequate, safe and healthful food to meet their dietetic needs and food preferences for active strong life.
Having minded the challenge it offers. There is need for targeted food security interventions, including food support in the form of direct food relief, food stamps, or indirectly through subsidized food production. Most of the farmers in the rural areas are poor and therefore cannot manage to purchase heavy machines for mechanization. As the president I strive for the introduction of Rural off farm opportunities to enable even the poorest people to engage in and provide additional food supply.
This mechanism will even provide financial assistance for the farmers, processing firms to be introduced in these places. This mechanism provides alternative sources of food and change in feeding habits. Another important aspect that is needed is facilitation of market access. To achieve this, I intend to ensure good governance. This plays an integral part in implementation of this intervention. Without good governance, the strategies cannot be fully implemented due to problems for instance corruption.
In essence, where there is sufficient supply of food, the nation becomes healthy hence rapid economic growth. Ensuring substantial education for all citizens is the foundation of the rationality of a particular community. A learned society is easy to govern compared to a society full of ignorant individuals. To improve our education system, I have considered the following measures; Training colleges for teachers must be restructured to more extensive teaching mechanisms. This intends to have more qualified and motivated teachers.
This I intend to achieve to restore the dignity of institutions and the teaching profession. Free forum for teachers where teachers and students can exchange their ideas, experiences, and information must be adopted. This is to create a conducive atmosphere for learning. As the President I will give direction to execute some reforms in the curriculum and examination system. Since education should form the whole person, it should be made relevant to the lives of the citizens particularly the students.
The system of education should be more pragmatic rather than being abstract and examination should not be geared towards obtaining grades and papers but towards achieving the whole personhood. Since the world is dynamic, there a need to introduce the use of information and communication technology system in our schools. This is to facilitate and enhance coordination among different departments in our schools. This requires installation of computer software as well as connectivity facilities. Lastly, everyone has a right to access to education and therefore I will ensure that no one is deprived of education.
Even the minorities are to benefit fro this plans which also intends to offer free high school and college education to accommodate even the less fortunate. Food security and health services, education and security within our borders play an integral role in sustainable development and the general welfare of the people. To eliminate ignorance in people by improving the education system from a theoretical sense to a pragmatic one will help to improve the economy of the country. I believe with my natural feeling to lead this country can drive me on towards achieving these goals
